Bead and Button Show 2013!

It's official!  We're here, we're set up, and we're ready for some eager students.  I met Celie Fago and Linda Darty today.  Tomorrow we dive into torch-fired enameling!  We're going to have so much fun and learn a lot!

My projects for Book No. 2 were sent to the publisher yesterday. My editor and I are envisioning a tightly structured book, with an expansive "Techniques" section, followed by the projects.  There's so much I want to say!  I want to tell you how to tint your own liquid enamels, show you how enamels look on different metals, teach you how to encourage clear and bright transparent enamels, even over copper.   There will be some ideas for you painters out there.  Even scrapbookers are going to be happy!

I had the nicest conversation with Patsy Croft today.  You must go to her website.  She has a wonderful spirit of sharing.  You'll find lots of good information at her site.

Lori Anderson is doing a Bead Soup Swap on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Hyatt.  For ten bucks, you'll get a copy of the Bead Soup Book and get a chance to swap with others.  I think they're holding it right next to the registration area.

So, that's it for now.  I'll follow with more photos of the week!  Milwaukee can't decide if it wants to be hot or cold.  Had to bring two wardrobes with me!

I'm all excited about your new book! One comment about your first book: it was very hard to find specific techniques like decals without looking through all the projects in the book, one by one. A more extensive Index or comprehensive techniques section would solve that problem. Good luck!

Hi Patricia, I appreciate the comment! This is exactly what I've been talking to the editor about ... that we have a more extensive "techniques" section that will be set up encyclopedia-style for easy reference. Techniques won't have to be repeated in the project section. I think this makes a lot more sense and now that you've said it, I know we're on the right track.
