A busy Winter and Spring!

I'm finally home, sleeping in my own bed, with the furry four-legged creatures of the Lewis family.  Maybe this is why we really travel, so that we can breathe in the bliss of being home!

February started with twelve days in Tucson, which was wonderful, of course!  I love meeting people, especially ones I've talked to in cyberspace and now can put a face to the name! I know we all have facebook avatars, but I find that few really look like "us!" We taught 85 students while we were there and came home with an order for over 900 beads for Lima Beads.

Two weeks after we came home, we celebrated the marriage of my daughter, Laura, to Matt Albright.  The wedding was held on the rooftop of Painting with Fire Studio and officiated by Linda Champagne, a customer and friend. It was beautiful.

Okay, now scurry, scurry, scurry to get the Lima Beads order in the mail before we leave for the Glass Craft Expo, where Laura renews her vows in Vegas. This was planned as the "official" ceremony.  It's a long story, what can I say. This marriage should definitely "take."

The flight back was smooth! David sat next to Bobby McFerrin ("Don't Worry, Be Happy") on the first leg of our trip ... Vegas to Charlotte. How cool is that?!!! They talked music ... what else?

I've announced to the family that I'm going "underground" to finish the projects for my second North Light book,  "Torch-Fired Color" (working title).  I'm not coming up for air unless someone's bleeding!  Along the way, I look forward to sharing little peeks of my projects, which are due on June 3.  However, since we're leaving for Bead and Button on Friday, May 31st, it will be an earlier self-imposed deadline.

There are still openings in the "Floral Cascade" and "Painting with Fire Workshops" at Bead and Button.  Would love to meet some of you in class. :-)  And, guess what, I've signed up for a class for myself!  What a treat!  I'll be taking a lampworking class with Sally LeGrand on "The Mystery and Reaction of Highly-Silvered Glass."

Here are some examples of Sally's work ...

Aren't these luscious?  But tell me, what has your past few months been like? Any good things, bad things, or in-between things?  I would love to catch up with you. :-)  Barbara

Busy lady! I love love LOVE that picture of your daughter and new son in law. Va va VOOM! And I am so happy to hear that you are doing a new book. I love your first book and I loved my class with you (even though I don't have the right set up to torch things - ooh I so want to!) so I am looking forward to the fun of your new book! I hope that I might bump into you at Bead & Button this year. Wishing you much success! Enjoy the day. Erin

Such a busy few months! I don't know how you pulled it all off. So many exciting things--two weddings, classes, bead sales, a new book. You are my hero!

As for me, vegetarian/vegan food blogs are my latest obsession! Food as medicine is powerful stuff. Trying to improve my diet and cooking more. Down 26 pounds!

It does sound like you've had a busy few months, Barbara!!! The highlight of my last few months was taking a torch-fired enameling class with Sally Stevens at her home studio! I was instantly hooked! I've gotten my supplies and took advantage of your enamel sale on the website and now I'm ready to go at home! I took some of the components I made in the class and created my version of your Floral Cascade Necklace. I love it and I've gotten lots of compliments. Have fun at Bead and Button. One of these years maybe I'll get to go!

I KNOW that you and family are glad to be home. Laura and Matt are so beautiful!!! I'm so happy for them and know the example you and Jim have set before them and taught them with help that marriage "take!"

Let's see. . .book, bead and button. . .but I bet the highlight for David was Bobby McFerrin! It would have been for ME!

Barbara, your stamina and drive and attitude are amazing! You are a blessing to me! And I know all in your family will be at your back!

We are still doing Salisbury. . .

Lots of love to all, dear friends!

Welcome home Barbara! We too are back in Virginia , got home 2 weeks ago from the last trip to Florida for awhile and catching up with work and home. My daughter and I are heading up to beadfest in the morning and then in 2 weeks I go to A&S VA Beach to meet with all the tribe there. Then summer and all that comes with it in our business will be upon us and before you know it , we'll be packing for Florida again! The time is whizzing by!

Sadly too far for Bead & Button. And the last months are best described by waiting for summer. :)
