Mary Jane has used one of the techniques from the book ... the no-solder bezel ... to create this gorgeous piece. A hole is punched in the metal and the sides are raised to create the bezel. I think her enamel cabochon looks like a semi-precious stone. Please visit Mary Jane's blog for more details about her work. I'm so grateful that Mary Jane is a part of this virtual book tour ... I find her work to be "rustic romantic!"

Maire Dodd ... Enamel Expressions
Mary Jane Dodd's jewelry is some of my favorites. I love the way her use of enamel serves as an accent to her metalworking.

Very inspiring - so inspiring that I'll head up into the little studio to play a bit once I sign off here.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great book tour but to bad you won't get the frequent flyer miles! ;-( Loved stop one on the tour and how Mary Jane uses enamel. Can't wait for all the other stops!
ReplyDeleteMary Janes enamel work is very inspiring! And creative!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the book (& now have it). I bought the kit from you and attended your demo at Beadfest. I bought my MAPP gas. All that's left to do is set up a fireproof table and start painting with FIRE! I'm really looking forward to doing it, especially after meeting you, and watching you - it really does look easy, but that's probably because you were doing it!
Ooops! I forgot to mention that I am already a follower of your blog!
ReplyDeleteI really love her subtle hints of color. It was an eye opening experience for me to see her post this morning.
ReplyDeleteI do follow both blogs and enjoy them very much. The amazing pieces each of you create truly inspire me. I will be traveling this blog hop to see it all. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara...my kit has made it's long trip across the boarder into Canada...thanks so much for the speedy delivery..i can't wait to get started!

ReplyDeleteand thank you barbara for so many things... for bringing me along on the ride, for inspiring me to try new things - and for teaching me how...
ReplyDeleteShe really does beautiful work! I am so glad to be introduced to it. How does it feel to inspire someone so creative and talented?
ReplyDeleteHey, we love what ya'll are doing with the enamels - beautiful and inventive. Have any of you tried painting directly with fire? My husband and I flame paint copper just with a torch. We get intricate patterns and colors on copper with the torch...Skip has been called the father of flame painting. Check out our website. We teach and would love to get our hands on some of you guys who are interested in going this direction as well. Go to www.coppercolorists.com and check it out...blessings!!!
